How to Improve Your Daily Devotional Time

For most women of faith, daily devotions with Jesus are the most important part of their day. However, if you are like most women, you may struggle to find enough time to have your devotions every day, or you may have grown bored and now lack excitement in your devotional time. These three tips can help you unlock new possibilities for learning more about God and for drawing closer to His will for your life.

Create a Place and Time
If you do not start out with a plan, you are definitely increasing your chance of failing. Choose a time in your day that will always work for your devotions. You may need to wake up earlier, or you might have to wait until the evening when your children are in bed. In addition, choose a quiet but pleasant place free from distractions.

Start with Something Short
If you are not currently having a devotional time, you will want to start your newly carved-out time with something short that catches your interest. Choose a devotional by an author who teaches solidly from the Bible. You may even just want to read a verse or two from the Gospels or from the Psalms each day and spend time meditating on it.

Always Dig Deeper
If you come away from your devotions feeling as if you have learned nothing, you may need to teach yourself to dig deeper. Buy a simple commentary from your bookstore, or ask your pastor for suggestions or help. You may also want to consider attending a Christian women workshop or a weekend retreat to rekindle your fire and love for God.

A daily devotional time is so important for any Christian woman wanting to strengthen her relationship with her Savior. This time should be designed to include enough time to read from the Bible and possibly a devotional, to meditate on what you have read and to spend time praying to your God who loves you so much.
