Bitten by the Golf Bug

Lately, my BIL has been boasting about his golf experiences and we're all ears on him. Since I don't know much about that sport, all I can do is to listen to him, laugh at some of his jokes talking about his misses and stuff and of course giving him praises so he'll be more inspired to play. He works like a horse during workdays and he deserves to have a diversion on weekends with his friends and golf buddy.

There’s no doubt that he is bitten by golf and gps watch. He even bought that gps watch that he said can improve his scores and  performance. I hope so.. Anyway, I’m happy for him for he is up and jolly every time he goes out and comes home from his golf “events”” as what my sister said.

Getting into Sports

I’ve never been a sports-minded person. Although I competed in the 100 meter dash in track and field event in my highschool days, which I have won, that only reason I joined was we have no representative in that event hahaha. After that, no more sports for me. I don’t know, I guess my ectomorph body is just too fragile for sports.

I have a niece who loves sports and she played soccer and track and field and has become a representative of her highschool. She excels in sports and I just hope she’d continue it too.

I’m in admiration for those that love sports, not only they can become physically fit but they get to learn more about discipline and the spirit of camaraderie among fellow players. For those that compete on various competitions where they can bring sport trophies and honor not just to themselves but also for their organization, town and even for their country, I salute them! I can just imagine all the efforts and sacrifices that they put in their trainings.

No Sports for Him

I’m not sure if I’m going to be alarmed with the eating habits and behavior of my nephew. At 13, he is just fond of eating rice only with soup (no meat or veggies) or sauces for his meal though he can eat some portions of spring rolls at times. We often told him that what he is eating is only fitted for babies and he can’t get lots of nutrition from that.

Others advised my SIL to just leave him like that and for sure in no time, he’d learn how to eat rice with chicken or meat in it. No doubt, that’s why he is so frail and thin for his age. He’s not also into sports as he finds playing computer games much more exciting. Ahh.. how’d I wish I can see him play basketball, soccer and other sports. It would be nice if he’d be interested in them and if that happens, I’ll be more that glad to give him basketball or soccer gifts on his birthday.

Oh well, I know that every kid has his own likes and passion and I don’t have to impose to him what to like.

Pacquiao Now a Boxing Icon

The unbelievable career of Manny Pacquiao will carry on for a few more years, but not much longer according the man who might be one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the history of the sport.

Pacquiao might be the most famous person from the Philippines, since, maybe ever. But the boxer, singer and congressman will not be in the ring forever to the disappointment of his legions of fans around the world. After his thrashing of Antonio Margarito, Pacquiao announced that he plans to spend only three more years in the squared circle. While the news might be disappointing to boxing fans it certainly is not surprising. Pacquiao is the first boxer in the history of the sport to hold championship belts in eight different weight classes.

He was willing to take on Margarito, an opponent who was banned for fighting in many destinations after being accused of loading his gloves. However, after the Pacquiao fight it looked like Margarito was the one on the receiving end of a beating from brass knuckles or another foreign object.

Due to his combination of hand speed and relentless offensive attacks, Pacquiao has become the top of the sport and perhaps the one fighter that is a bigger draw than Floyd “Money” Mayweather. Mayweather had been considered the top draw of the sport until Pacquiao arrived on the scene. After the last performance and Mayweather’s legal problems it seems as if Pacquiao has passed up his former rival in the minds of fans and boxing observers.

While Pacquiao might be a popular figure attracting everything from top affiliate programs to endorsements for popular products it was not until recently that he was considered superior to Mayweather. While boxing fans dream of a super fight between the two, if that match-up does not occur it seems that history will look more favorably on the boxer who did not hide from competition.

It’s Tee Time

I guess you are all having a grand time with your summer vacation eventhough most of the times the heat and humidity is just unbearable. I have lots of friends and relatives who have packed their bags and went on a family vacation with their family out of town while some enjoyed the cool breeze outside the country.

There are actually lots of activities that we can do this summer; you just need to choose what you feel like most doing. Going to the beach swimming, snorkeling, diving and more are no doubt a hit for those that love water. There are also those that love attending seminars in cooking, baking and more.

Sports aficionados will find basketball, car racing and even golf irresistible. I remember my brother in law who loves to play golf after coming from work. I’m not sure if he is a fan of Tiger Woods though but he has love and passion for this disciplined sport. I know if he had his way, he’ll be wishing to play at one of the Myrtle Beach golf courses, where he can practice his playing skills.

There are many golf courses, as what I’ve read there are about 80 and that will excite him for sure. It’ll be a tee time for him and his son Braiden, another bonding time not just with his friends but with his son as well. If you’re a golf lover too, you can opt to choose at the various Myrtle Beach golf packages being offered and let the fun starts.

Check out more details and see photos/ video of their golf courses at http://www.myrtlebeachgolf.net .

Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey Fight

Pinoys love boxing! And with Manny Pacquaio's emergence as a NAtional pride for having won 7 world title, Pinoy are more hooked that ever. Why not? Pacquiao who is called PacMan was so great of a fighter and also became the best pound for pound king of boxing in his lifetime. I will not deny that I am extremely proud to see him fight on the ring and dedicate his fights not only to his family but to the whole Philippines and to God. He stayed humble eventhough he is earning millions of dollars now and I just hope that he'll continue to help other people as well as budding boxers.

Rumors about Pacquaio's fight with Mayweather has died down already since it will not come surface anymore. Pacman is set to fight in March though. Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey is another fight to look forward too but I'm sure he'll knock Clottey down on March 13, 2010 for WBO welterweight belt. Many are looking up at Pacquaio becasuse he serves as an inspiration to many boxers.

I guess not all of you like watching boxing, some prefer to watch UFC and watch their fave fighter like Anderson Silva and many others. His fans will surely be delighted to see him fight on the ring.

Letting the Kids Play Outside

It’s weekend once again and I can hear my nephews giggling and having fun outside and my niece actually playing with her scooter, while the 2 boys are throwing a ball with each other. It’s nice to see them like that and just having fun. Its part of growing up and it will remain in their minds and become part of their childhood memories.

Good thing is that they still know how to play outside and get physical sometimes eventhough there are times especially on the weekends when they are just too hard to be disturbed when they are playing Farmville, Café world and the likes. Oh dear those Facebook games are just addicting, thank God I am not one.

We still let the kids play those games so that they can explore more on the computer but there are limits most particularly if it is school days. There is only certain time that we allowed them to do that. We need to set some rules about games and studies. They should never ever put the games more priority bec. they will be warned and banned to open the computer when they do so.

Aside from all of that, sports are also great for kids for they also get a different discipline when they get to love that. Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, Badminton, Football are just some sports that they can get into. There are even sports clinic that you can enrol them or if not you can let them play outside your backyard.

I know there are many kids who love NFL and you can even get them some NFL Merchandise over at nfluniformset.com. The set costs $39.99 and that includes jersey, pants and helmet. Choose the size that your kid will fit into. For sure they will be delighted to be geared up with their fave NFL team and player.

So remember, encourage the kids to be active, have fun and just be kids.

Manny Pacquiao wins against Hatton

Wow.. I can't believe my eyes with what I have seen... RICKY HATTON was down literally knocked out after a left punch of Manny Pacquiao hits him. It was only second (2nd round)!! What a great fight that is!! I was at the edge of my seat while watching with my family. We could not wait for the delayed telecast on TV so we decided to watch it online eventhough it has lag time.

The fight of Ricky “Hitman” Hatton VS Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was held at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada USA today Sunday May 3, 2009 (PHil. Time) but May 2, 2009 US time .
