Hey everyone, how’s your holidays and 2012 so far?

The holidays are just too busy for most of us and I guess we’re all ok now that new year has started. 2011 is pretty good for me and I hope 2012 brings more luck and good things for all of us. I’m just praying so hard that no more disaster where hundreds of people will die just like what happened in the Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City tragedy last December. It’s just so heartbreaking to see their condition in the news and to hear all the sad stories.

May the Lord bless us and like everyone are saying, there’s new trials and challenges but we need to be ready to face them for all problems will have a solution. We need to trust in the Lord for He has the almighty power to give all the blessings and the healing that we all need.

Happy new year everyone!

Image via Wikipedia

There are few times in life more exciting than when you leave home to attend college and begin your career. This is a time of freedom that is unmatched in any other time of life. After you begin work and find a partner, the rest of life seems to be set for you. But this is a time that you can learn, grow and enjoy everything that life has to offer. The only little down side seems to be getting a grasp on your finances.

Learning to Set a Budget

Life isn’t as easy as many moms and dads make it look, because they’ve had two or three decades more experience than you. But many of the things they’re telling you are right. You need to set a reasonable budget and learn to stick to it. In time, you will build savings and credit. Until then, you have to learn to do without a few things you’d really like. When an emergency creeps up, use options like Mobiloans to get your life back on track.

How to Make a Budget

Figure up your net pay. This is how much you bring home each paycheck after taxes, insurance and other deductions. Then add up all of your monthly expenses. List the most important things first. Subtract what you have to have to live each month from what you earn, and this is the money you have to use at your discretion.

Using Discretionary Money

You probably have a lot of things you need and even more things that you want. Make a list of your priorities and spend your extra money where it really counts. It may be worth it to you to skip eating out and spend your money on art supplies or car parts. This is part of being an adult, and there is nothing wrong with making sacrifices in one area to enjoy another, as long as the bills are paid and you are eating regular meals.

In the Long Run

It is important to remember that the freedom of this time of your life does come with a price tag. It takes time and experience to build wealth. Set a small amount of money aside each week to build a savings account. Use credit wisely and don’t take on a monthly car payment or high rent payment that you aren’t going to be able to make. Above all, be patient. Your parents probably didn’t own a home the day they graduated, either.

It’s pretty easy now to talk to someone especially on emergency cases aside from being able to browse the internet if your phone is capable of. Cellphones bring communication to a whole new level, you can browse the net, chat, play games, listen to music, watch videos and use lots of apps.

Lately, my SIL is thinking of getting a new phone or better yet she’d wait for my sis to give her a new phone because her current phone is just a pity. The phone can’t receive messages on time or worst can’t receive any. Aside from that it has a poor cell reception that might need a booster. I know she can’t afford to have an iPhone but I think a Samsung or a Nokia touch screen phones will be enough for her.

I quickly told her that I hate the smell of her coffee (i think it was a 3-1 instant one) and it’s not like the coffee that I used to love before. I’ve stopped drinking coffee since February this year and I am amazed that I have not tasted a drop since then. wahooooo!! I’m not even tempted to make a cup of coffee for myself for I am not excited anymore to drink it. My doctor asked me not to drink coffee anymore as much as possible so as to relive the sourness that I’m feeling in my stomach.

Since I followed her advice, my stomach has gone better. With that result, I vowed not to drink any coffee anymore even if someone asked me to drink some. Yey for me!

Tornadoes can be very violent and I reckon if you’re in an area where storms and tornadoes frequent and you don’t want to relocate, I suggest you do invest in having a storm shelter like this for it can save you and your family when tornadoes hit.

I was stuck in the house for almost a week now. My mom is sick so I need to take care of her. Thankfully, I have my laptop and new desktop plus a net connection to keep me busy and sane. I could not imagine myself stuck in the house with nothing to do. My sister in law and a family friend are tending our computer shop most of the times because I can’t come there. I’m also thankful because my work is online so I can still meet deadlines even if I’m home.

My digi- designing also helps with my monthly budget as I get commission on my sales. My designing mojo is also flowing so I was able to finish another digi-kit this week while I’m here at home.

Thanks to the Internet as well for I can still communicate with my sisters, friends and other relatives online. In fact, I had a small chat with a college friend and she’s asking me to join their networking business but I declined. I think I rather sell used restaurant equipment or cosmetics than to join such. It’s not my cup of tea anyway.
