Rainy days are here again and we’ll be expecting lots of typhoons this year. In fact, big storms already came in and just about 2 weeks ago Storm Basyang showed her might. It has very strong winds that caused some of our small trees to fall and our internet’s satellite line to snap on its place. There’s no electric power for 23 hours in our area that we actually didn’t expect.

After that incident, my mom called also our helper to clean the gutters in our roof for lots of leaves and other debris got stock during that storm. Mom also asked our helper to check on the leak on my bedroom’s roof and had it fixed.

Now we are ready for the rainy days and we just hope that no more big storms will come in. Just in case you need some roofing materials, check out Ondura for they have wide range of products to choose from.

Extensive Selection of Home Plans

My cousin just recently built their new house which is not far from us. It is not yet finished but they have already moved in as the water and electricity service have been installed. My cousin got married few years back and they lived with his wife’s parents at first before renting an apartment. They were trying to save as much money as they could while living with the parents, and then renting was financially draining, so they decided to go ahead and have their home built. They will complete it as the money is available to them.

Since my cousin is in training to be an architect he was able to draw up their house floor plan making sure that it was designed in the way they wanted and with the space his growing family would need. His supervisor finalized the plans and then the house was built. Building a home can be exciting, but as my cousin found it can also be time consuming with all the planning that needs to be done. Usually you have an idea in your mind on how you want your house to look and you share that with an architect who then draws up the home plans according to your ideas and also according to building requirements and specifications.

Lucky for my cousin that he was able to draw up these plans himself. Those who are not so lucky will have to find their home designs somewhere else, either through hiring an architect or by checking out a website called houseplansandmore.com of HDA Inc. This is a website that supplies thousands of homes plans depending on the style of house you would like, how big you would like it to be, what your room requirements are, and so on. You will find an extensive selection of plans that any buyer can purchase with styles ranging from contemporary, bungalow, rustic, traditional, to Victorian styles and many more. You chose a style according to your taste. You can do quick search for home plans for houses in the style and size you require, and get an estimate of what it will cost to build the home you have chosen. So you don’t have to be an architect like my cousin to get the house of your imaginings, let houseplansandmore be your guide to finding the home plans to suit your tastes and needs.

All About Fescue Grass

Used all around the world for its durability and resilience, fescue grass is an amazing thing. Fescue grass actually refers to a group of types of grass used for ornamental landscaping because they can handle being in either direct sun or complete shade – which makes them perfect for areas needing smooth and even grass surfaces such as golf ranges.

When in very extreme temperatures, fescue simply goes dormant until the weather improves. Originally taken from Europe in 1800, the two oldest varieties of fescue are Kentucky-31 and Alta. Fescue grass is generally grown and kept at two inches tall. It flourishes in heavy rainfall climates and survives harsh dry spells with ease. Deep roots and thick growth help fescue survive and maintain its color. Its thick stems will often smother weeds such as dandelion.

Fescue works well as pasturing or turf grass as it is thick and easily cared for. You can choose from many varieties of fescue, but the most commonly used types are simply tall fescue and turf-type fescue which is shorter and even more durable. You can buy fescue as plain seed, in a blend or even as sod ready to be laid down to make that perfect lawn.

If you start with seed, remember to plant the seed in softened soil and gently cover it with a light sprinkle of soil. Fescue is best when planted in the fall and spring in warm soil at a rate of 4 pounds of seed per 1000 square feet.

Laying sod is very simple. Choose the area you want to cover with grass and level it. Keep the ground wet as you lay down the sod and water it often to make sure the ground stays moist until the sod takes hold. Dry ground will make it hard for the sod to grow and may even kill it.

Living in a tropical country means having a warm or even hot climate all throughout the year and one of the most common methods of cooling that we have is using an electric fan. Not all houses can afford an aircon most especially electricity charge these days are still getting higher so our best option is to use an electric fan.

There are actually different types of fans: the usual stand fan, desk fan, wall fan and the ceiling fans and we can use them in variety of rooms and for different purposes. There are also those industrial fans; they are big fans with bigger blades that can blow stronger winds usually used in rooms that needed greater ventilation.

Child Proofing Our Homes

Having kids in the house can be a delight especially to see them grow each day. I’ve seen the developing years on some of my nieces and nephews and it’s never too easy to rear them. Being parents is a full time job so I always salute them most especially moms who are often the ones who do all the hard work at home with their kids. I also had the chance to take care some of them when they are infants to about 3 or 4 years old so I know the terrible 2s.

Just one of the main concerns when there are kids in the house is to make sure that they are safe. Child-proofing is a must seeing to it that if you have stairs, a baby gate like this one can be installed to prevent them from falling or going to areas that they are not allowed, harmful chemicals should not be reachable by toddlers/kids, making sure they will not touch electric sockets or plugs and lots more.

Kids always wander anytime even when we are keeping an eye on them, child safety gates can prevent them from going nowhere. We often hear freak accidents happening even inside our homes so this probably can appease parents. Installing extra wide baby gates or even pressure gates can keep areas for our kids a little bit safe.

Lately I’ve been looking after a niece and a nephew at home, eventhough they are already a bit old, I still have to make sure they are ok so I check on them once in a while.

Now is the perfect time to organize our homes. The truth is my mom and brothers already finished renovating their respective kitchen and extra room at their house. Summer has always been a good time to repair something at our house since we need to be prepared for the coming rainy days. The roof gutter needs to be cleaned and the drainage as well for it will not be clogged when the sudden downpour of rain comes.

Our gardens should not be left behind as it also need some care. Eventhough the temp is getting hotter each day we can always make our plants and flowers healthy by nurturing them with water daily to avoid being dry. My mom who has a green thumb can always plant anything and in no time it’ll grow bring and healthy. How’d I wish I can have her magic hands.

Landscape designers have become popular these days, I reckon for they can bring out the beauty of any place in your front or back yard. We always want to have well groomed gardens that sometimes we have no time or we don’t have any talent to do, so a professional Landscape Design Agency come in the picture. Their creative and professional designers can produce awesome results to your place.

What a Mess!

I hope that we’ll not have a messy house the whole year because we started the New Year with it. It may seem not appropriate to share it here but the house is literally on mess right now. Just imagine 3 teens vacationing in the house who doesn’t know how to clean their mess when you don’t ask them to. Our luggage from previous trip to Hongkong are still out and have not been put in the storage room.

I still have tons of clothes to iron, our bathroom glass tile also needs some cleaning, my room which I am sharing with vacationing niece is jumbled and I have no time to do all of them asap. Soon I hope I’ll get them cleaned.

Keeping Organized

Being organized is one of the things I wanted to implement in our household and here at my store. I think it looks so filthy if things are cluttered and that makes me not so inspired to work. I keep on asking my bro to keep his things in just one place and put his stuff in the right places or in boxes in that way we can minimize clutter.

Aspiring Cook :)

Ok I admit I am not a good cook and definitely don’t have a passion for cooking but lately I found myself holding the pan and stirring spoon. I used to cook for our family once in a while but not all the time. My knowledge in cooking is limited to simple recipes only but I guess if will have all the proper ingredients, tools and ample time to do it then for sure I’ll master this craft as well.

About 2 weeks ago I cooked a special lunch for our family that every one loved (of course they must hehe!!). I made a fruit salad the night before our Sunday lunch and Buffalo wings, crabs with oyster sauce and chili crabs. Actually I just got the recipe online and thought of trying it and they turned our good so for sure I will cook them once again.

Sad to say I don’t have complete set of cooking utensils but if ever I will use Cooking.com coupon codes then I can get great discounts when I purchase new utensils. Since Christmas is also coming a new addition to our kitchen will be perfect. Using  CK Kitchen coupons will also do wonders. I have yet to admit that these coupon codes are heaven sent. :)

The Weekend That Was

How are you all today? Yesterday I am the cook and had fun doing it. I didn’t go out shopping as well but just accompanied my niece to a couturier and after that I had the laziest afternoon and evening afterwards. It’s weekend so I have the right to laze around like most of you do, right? I was hoping that I could do a bit cleaning in the house but I started to watch TV and I was unstoppable.

It’s a brand new week today, it’s gloomy and raining today but I sure hope that will not dampen my enthusiasm for having a great and productive day. I know it’ll be another busy week for me with all my online and offline works. I still have to look into those bathrooms fixture that I saw at betterbathrooms.com and I’ve been thinking that it’ll be a perfect place to get idea and purchase items needed for the bathroom renovation that I’ve been thinking for a while now. I sure hope there will come a time where I can see a new bathroom and living room in our house. I was watching all those reality shows where they head over to a house to clean it and do a great make over. It’s always in my mind that it’ll be an awesome opportunity to be in those kind of shows.
