I’ve been meaning to renovate our house for a while now and it has been such an arduous thought on how I can achieve it before the year ends. I’ve already been making a list on the things that I wanted to be done so I can figure out if the work will be reasonable for my budget and of course if it can be finished all at once before Christmas time.
The first thing that I wanted to be done is the wall re-painting. The colors looked old and chipped, plus the fact that the dirt has embedded so much on the walls that it looks nasty already. I wanted the house to look neat and more welcoming this time. It has been many years now since I had it re-painted so I reckon this is the perfect year to do so. Given that I have also new appliances that I purchased last year and just recently, I reckon it’s pretty thrilling if I can showcase them on my “new” home. This makes me excited.
As I was talking to my mom about this, she approved about it and even suggested that, if I’m going to have our walls re-painted and just leave our old floor tiling, then it may look half undone. That made me think again and it looks like I need to have the complete house re-painted and re-tiled (only the kitchen and living room part) and it only means that more budget and time are needed. Been contemplating about this and it looks reasonable.
The old tiles that we have are just vinyl and you can just imagine how it looks like after over 20 decades of use. There are chipped edges when I inspected them and the beige colors appear horrible now. I wished we had installed a marble or something more durable when we first had it constructed.
Anyway, I have known that there are actually many tiling materials available now at many home depot stores and before I had my house project started, I need to research more. Certainly, I’ll be veering away from vinyl materials and it looks like I have many choices: from marble, limestone and travertine tiles.
They all look the same actually but I guess we’ll be trying out those travertine tiles that I learned was made of calcium carbonate that was formed thousand of years ago underneath the earth’s surface. These chemicals are formed in water resources, rivers, springs and more. Nature has really given us natural products that we can also use as tiling for our home.
I managed to find Stone Superstore, a store that offers wide range of travertine tiles. Their online catalogue proved to offer wide choices of these tiles in various colors that ranges from ivory, beige, walnut, and more. The different finish and also the pattern of the tiles can also add beauty to the area where I wanted it to be placed.
Now, durable tiling materials are all that I need for our home and I guess I found the right one.
